Crappy Weather and On-Call

I want to apologise for the bit at the end of the last post. I was just a bit drunk and not happy with life in general for some reason. I was thinking of going back and deleting it off of there, but it is what it is and I'll leave it alone...

Crappy Weather.

This week we have had all four seasons worth of weather and now my sinus' are really protesting. I woke up with a massive sinus headache and now I'm getting nausea to go with it.

Monday was 73° and sunny. Tuesday was 65° and rainy. Wednesday was 30° and snowing. Yesterday was about 60° and cloudy and today is about 45° and rainy again.

I almost called in sick this morning, but I have to be really messed up to do that. In the last 3 years I think I called in sick twice. Once about 2 1/2 years ago I had an accident with a chainsaw and cut the top of my left knee. I went to the ER and had it sewn up and I still went to work that night!

Later...

At lunch I went out in the car and slept through my lunch break. I feel a lot better now. Since my stomach was bothering me I didn't eat anything and I'm pleased to say I'm actually hungry now.

I only have a half hour before the weekend starts and boy am I ready to get the hell out of here!

M is on call all weekend at the hospital so we won't be doing much of anything just in case she gets called in.

M had been on call at the hospital…

And every night so far, she’s been called in. First it was about 2AM Friday night (Saturday morning) and she got home at about 8am Saturday morning. Then last night she was called in at about 1AM. She got back home this morning at about 7AM and got paged and had to leave again at 8am. Here it is almost noon and she’s still at work.

When she gets home I’ll make a nice breakfast for her and put her back in bed for the day (unless that damn pager goes off again). Last night I made a nice dinner for us. When she’s on call I tend to take care of everything so if she is called in she doesn’t have to worry about the food, or the laundry, or the dishes not getting done ‘cause she’s working.

I do a lot of that stuff anyway here at the house, but M usually takes care of the cooking for us, so it’s a burden off her shoulders not to have to worry about even that.

What can I say, I think my wife is taken advantage off at work and I know myself well enough to say I’m not much of a romantic type. So I have to work at it. Friday on the way home from work I picked up groceries for a couple of nice meals and while I was there I picked up some flowers for M.

Guys, I’ll give you the best advice in the world for a relationship: Buy flowers or a romantic card for no reason. When they ask, “What’s this for?” You just say, “’Cause I love ya.” And leave it at that. I’m not entirely sure why it means so much to women, maybe it’s because you thought of them and then did something about it. I’m not real sure. But they love it.

I’m Alive… So Far…
